No two investigations are the same. However, they do have the same basic characteristics. A typical investigation will involve the following:

  • HMIT requests all of the books and records of the business.

  • An exchange of letters with HMIT following submission of records.

  • A meeting with the client at the outset and a further meeting with HMIT and the client.

  • Following meeting further exchange of letters clearing up any outstanding points.

  • Completion of Statement of Assets.

  • Final negotiation and settlement of the investigation
