Case studies

Engineering company in Scotland
Investigated over a 20 month period. Negligible amendments were made and accountancy fees of £4,021.42 were settled.

Care home in the South West
Suffered an enquiry lasting 27 months. A settlement including tax, interest and penalties was reached for £4,000 and accountancy fees were claimed of £7,821.54

Construction firm in the North East
Had the employment status of subcontractors disputed by the Inland Revenue. HMIT initially demanded over £250,000 and the case was heading for the Commissioners. The eventual settlement reached was £13,000 and accountancy fees were paid of £15,832.97.

Public House in Wales
Investigation lasted for 25 months with no eventual additions to profits. Accountancy fees of £2,005 were claimed under the policy.

Dentist in the South East
Aspect enquiry lasted 8 months. Accountancy fees of £1,674 were paid under the policy.

Opticians in the Midlands
Allegations of VAT underpaid were successfully disputed with Customs & Excise. Costs of £2,534 were paid under the policy.
